Dear Blog—
You are fantastic. It’s only been three months, but I’m so glad we met. I really like you, and I hope we stay an item.
I like how you expect a lot from me. I’m actually writing, which I haven’t done in ten years, since I got that English degree. Writing a lot. And enjoying it. I don’t know what I was expecting, but that was a surprise.
You’re so well traveled*, and I can only look at where you’ve been and wonder how you found me, and what life in your countries is like.
You remind me of my days backpacking through Europe when I was young, after my father died. I’ve been trying to get back since, with crap luck. My kingdom for a schnitzel. Or another drink from a Scottish spring, high on a Glencoe mountaintop, the freshest, sweetest water I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve never forgotten. Or another wintry day ice skating on a frozen Czech pond with friends from Australia and Denmark. Or, or, or. So many sweet memories, and I know your homes have wonders I’ll likely never know. Thank you for reminding me of my own.
You give me a blast of excitement whenever you show up, and I love seeing a new country on my list. If only WordPress let me see American States, too. I know you’re there, but America is so wide. I don’t know where you are, but I do know I haven’t seen enough of this wide, beautiful country.
Thank you for visiting me.

*You come from so many far-flung places I have never been: New Zealand, Belgium, Qatar, South Africa, the Philippians, Spain, Jamaica, Indonesia, Trinidad and Tobago, India, Australia, and Norway; and some places I actually have been: Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, and somewhere in the UK (Scotland? England? Northern Ireland? I am lucky enough to have been to all three).
